Now Recruiting for Instructors
 
The Adventure Centre is now looking to recruit 2 new instructors for our busy programme over the summer of 2012.  We are seeking experienced individuals capable of working in a range of different locations locally and who will fit in with our current team.  Succesful applicants can be offered a residential or non residential package as required.

Kelly College Staff Induction Day

As students were getting ready to enjoy their last weekend before the new school term begins, it was a very different story for new and existing members of the Kelly College school staff team.

As part of the Kelly College welcome, new staff members along with some of the existing staff team spent a day at The Adventure Centre getting to know one another and completeing a set of tough challenges. The aim of the day was to participate in a series of challenges and to solve puzles which would enable them to set off the rocket and complete the task.

Challenges included scaling the Jacob's ladder and High Ropes Course as well as pulling their way up through the flooded tunnels.

The staff team managed to succeed in their task of setting off the rocket and having an enjoyable day.

 
Eltham College Canoe

Eltham College

Eltham College enjoyed an exciting programme in the fantastic sunshine last week. Their busy programme included two nights spent out under the stars, a Canoe trip and some Rock Climbing and Abseiling on Dartmoor. more info

Kelly College Staff Team Building Day

 
Friday saw the Kelly College Groundsmen and Maintenance staff visiting the centre for a Team Building Day. The teams ascended the high ropes course and worked together on some of our team tasks before heading to the Dewerstone for some abseiling and a river crossing challenge. More info

Lead Climbing Course

This week our lead climbing course was ran by our Mountain Instructor Jamie Alcock, Leigh Tor and The Dewerstone were used for the venues chosen for the course. The clients were experienced indoor climbers who quickly transfered their indoors skills into the outside environment. As the clients progressed so quickly they also managed to get their first taste of multi pitch climbing. More info

Rolling Clinic Dates

We've added some new dates for our Rolling Clinics, so if you need coaching to help master your roll or a nice warm pool to develop the 'bombproof' roll come and join us. More info
White Water Kayak

BCU 4 Star WW Leader Training Course

The River Dart was the venue chosen this week for the clients to develop their skills with help from paddlesport coach Sean Rider. The course followed the BCU syllabus with training in river leadership, incident management, rescues and personal paddling skills. More info

Instructor Training Course finishes

February saw another successful Instructor training course end with all students achieving their goals. Some students worked extra hard achieving BCU 3 star awards in both WW Kayak and Canoe. Information for this year’s course has been updated on the website and dates for the course are 5th September 2011 – 27th January 2012. More info
