Facilities
The Adventure Centre has excellent on-site facilities which allow us to do a great deal of our activities right here. When other venues are required, our geographical location provides easy access to the moors and waterways of the South West.
The Weir
The Adventure Centre is only a two minute walk from the River Tavy where a weir creates one of our unique activities. The ‘Weir Challenge’ is often included in our school and corporate programmes and is frequently remembered as a favourite activity by students and professionals alike.
High Ropes Elements
The Adventure Centre has its own High Ropes Course, Trapeeze, Jacob’s Ladder and Tree Climb. All of these elements are set up using the trees around the Centre and give participants an opportunity to challenge themselves in solo and group activities. We feel very strongly about the value of using high rope elements as a means of expanding and supporting personal growth, which is why they are included in most of our programmes.
Swimming Pool
Kelly College Swimming Pool is a two minute walk from The Adventure Centre and is regularly used during our Outdoor Instructor Training Course. Students can practice support strokes and learn to roll a kayak in the heated pool - a very useful environment for teaching these invariably wet activities.
Astroturf
The Adventure Centre has access to the Kelly College Astroturf which is only a short walk away. It is regularly used during our school programme weeks for wide games in the evening and can be floodlit.
Foggintor/Sheeps Tor
We have two briefing rooms which are regularly used during our courses; Foggintor and Sheeps Tor. The rooms comfortably hold 20 and 40 people respectively and full audio visual facilities can be provided. Additionally there is a small kitchen area in Foggintor with a cooker, fridge and cooking/eating equipment. This enables small groups to use the Centre on a self-catering basis.
Drying Room
A much needed facility at a busy outdoor pursuits centre, our drying room is very effective and will thoroughly dry clothing placed there overnight. Additionally, we have two washing machines and a tumble dryer which can be used if necessary.
Stores
The Adventure Centre prides itself on its well equipped and maintained stores. We have separate stores for our climbing/camping equipment, wet equipment and problem solving equipment. All of our stores are regularly checked and inventoried to maintain high standards of safety, and of course to keep them tidy.
The climbing/camping store holds enough equipment for 40 clients to be climbing at any time. We have a range of tents for expedition work with trangia stoves and all the necessary additional equipment. The wet store provides buoyancy aids, kags, paddles and boats in a range of sizes to fit all. The problem solving store houses equipment for over 30 different activities alongside bivy and rafting kits.
